Don't do it: Reasons why you should NOT start a podcast
Don’t do it.
Don’t just make a podcast for your business because you think you should.
Or because “everyone” else is doing it.
Or because you don't want Trend FOMO.
Or because you you read somewhere that Spotify gave somebody a hundred million bucks for that one show and, hey, why not you??
There are so many reasons why a podcast might be the perfect fit for your brand, passion, expertise or business. But these ain’t them.
Last week I did a panel discussion for the popular Clubhouse room “Biz Tips for Creatives” called “The Power of Podcasting to Grow Your Creative Business.” I had a lot to say about all the reasons you should make a podcast for your business.
Reasons like:
You are a verbal communicator and most comfortable getting your message across through conversation and speech
Your target audience has a lifestyle or hobbies where they can’t always be glued to a screen
The mysterious Know-Like-Trust factor between a podcast host and their listener (i.e. potential customer) is through the roof
Podcasts are the gift that keeps on giving when it comes to content generation

Don't those sound like better reasons??
We also chatted about the pros and cons of different formats, how the Google bots find your show, and why you shouldn’t feel icky about promoting it. You can listen to the whole discussion replay here!
